Unbelievable. That's about all I can say right now.
I just received a phone call from our NP @ the cancer center. Carly's ultra sound is completely normal. Her liver and her spleen both function perfectly. So,,,what does this mean? It means we have no real explanation as to the low platelets that Carly has been dealing with since last May. They are labeling her as a child with ITP. Which I can't even pronounce!
The thought was, Carly's spleen was going to be the culprit of this issue. I'm very happy that both organs are functioning normally, but I really wanted some sort of explanation as to why. Not having an answer to this issue is quite frustrating.
Now we try to put this out of our minds..per the doctor's orders! Go on with life as usual. Recheck Carly at the cancer center in 6months. Pray that her platelets suddenly go back to normal. As the doctor says, is very much a possibility.
FYI: I learned that 2 Xanax in one day are way too much for me to handle. Ha! I've been dragging all day today. I should have listened to my friend Heather, she warned me! I really thought that I'd be able to sleep it off last night. Not the case. Live and learn, I suppose!

well, glad the ultra sound was normal but I know it's hard not having a good answer but maybe that's just how Carly is. Bennett's platelets are still a tad high 498,000 and his wbc is a tad low -4.7 but the docs are not concerned and think that possibly he's just that way. They want to recheck it in a couple of months just to see. Hoping Carly is just fine and you can try to forget about cancer for at least 6 months:)
So glad things were normal! I have decided with my kids that sometimes it's just the way God made them!
Good news!! Glad you got the results quickly.
Great news.
I agree with the doctor, put it in the back of your mind for now. I know thats so hard when its your child, but if she's doing well, live life to the fullest baby!!
What is her platelet count? It is fustrating to us when we see a problem but no one can tell you what it is.
First, never listen to me ... what the heck do I know!Second... I have ITP...yes, I said I,not Zoey,so I'll help you pronounce it.I have become a pro at it after all these years!
Love to you all..
Polly, the platelet count has been bouncing around for about a year. Lowest we've caught it was 56,000. November it was up to 85,000. This week, back down to 67,000. Very frustrating to say the least.
Heather, I think I remember you telling me that you had ITP. I'll likely never be able to pronounce it! Do you have to do anything for yours? Are you monitored closely?
Great news and try to not worry but sometimes I think that is a Mommy's job LOL. Leave it in God's hands. She will remian in our prayers
*whew* Im glad everything is functioning, but agree that platelet counts should just not be 'ignored'...UGH!
Keeping you in our prayers...and hoping the counts level out soon.
