A Quilt

Check out this quilt.

It was made by Cindy Yunke,
in memory of Carly.
This quilt is filled with photo's of Carly.
Special, precious, treasured photo's.

There are also several of our friends beautiful little
faces surrounding Carly's photo's.
I did snap several pictures of each little friend,
and planned on putting them here for you all
to see.... but...blogger wouldn't let me load them all
Hopefully you can see your child if you "click"
to enlarge the following picture
and hopefully, you will find your child.

As I opened this package on Christmas morning,
I found a letter. I tried to read it, but broke
down in tears. I couldn't even get through a letter,
so I knew when spread out this quilt...I
was in some serious trouble.
Paul and I sat crying our eyes out.
Looking at all these precious pictures.
And crying because so many people care
so very deeply for us and our pain that
we continue to feel each and every day
without Carly here with us.

Thank you Cindy, for making this beautiful
quilt. And for all the time you spent working
to get it done and to us for Christmas.

Thank you to Susan Collins-Berg, for coming up with
this idea. What a way to keep Carly's memory alive.

Even though this quilt has brought
us many, many tears, we love it.

I leave you with a couple of quotes from Cindy's letter.

"A prayer went up for you and yours with every measurement, cut and stitch that went into the making of this quilt."

and

"Although my hands have stitched and patched this memory quilt for Carly and your family, the threads that hold it together are from your family and community of friends that share that extra chromosome."

I'm so happy you like it. I forgot to let you know in the letter...there are 21 different fabrics in the quilt...I tried to get a triple 21 in there, but couldn't...unless one happy accident occurred! :) Much love.

P.S. the little smiley guy at the top with the Detroit Red Wings shirt on in the leaves is my Noah. Because of Carly, I hug him extra tight every day and think of your loss.

Cindy, the work you did to make this quilt is beautiful. I love the 21 pieces of material! I have made a couple quilts in my life and they take many hours to complete. My hats off to you. Susan, thanks for the idea and heading it up. Joany and Paul, we love you and think of you daily. BTW, I found Lydia in the side!

The quilt is beautiful!!

I cannot tell you the number of times I thought about you over Christmas weekend and wondered how your family was doing. So many prayers I offered up on your behalf.

*hugs*

It's beautiful.

Praying for your family.

I know this Christmas had to be SO hard. I hope you were able to at least enjoy it with your other 2 children.

what a wonderful gift with such beautiful memories. When my sister found out she was going to pass away she had one made for each of her girls from the time they were born until she found out (they were only 7 1/2 and 4 years old). What a beautiful keep sake for them to have in memory of their mom...but it is still difficult to see after 4 1/2 years for us.

Oh Joany...this is the most beautiful quilt I have ever seen, and believe me I have seen alot of very fancy, hand stitched, heirloom quilts in my time. None as beautiful as this. It has inspired me to go to Joann's, TONIGHT, and buy some material and supplies and a book and a needle and I am going to learn to quilt. And I am going to make other people happy with it. I know you had a most miserable holiday, your whole family....but I have every faith Carly was with you that day, as she is every day. We from your community love you and Paul, and your whole family. Hugs.
