Precious memory

As I cleaned in our bedroom yesterday - trying to get ready for new bedroom furniture - I found a very precious memory. A Mother's Day card that Carly made for me while in Kindergarten, in 2009.

It's obviously her tiny little hand print for the flower and the stem was made by using the side of her fist.

When I found this card, my tears started flowing. And then I opened it and read the following:

Posted by Picasa

No truer words were ever written.

The memories come flooding back quite often of Carly.
From the day she was born, right up till the day we lost our precious little girl.

I also found several of her school papers yesterday too.
Paul had placed the remaining papers
from Carly's last couple of weeks in first grade, in our bedroom.
He did so, to get them out of our sight once we came back home, after Carly's funeral.
(which I refused to come home after, for over 2 weeks)
Paul didn't realize that I had a storage tote that I had used to place all of Carly's school papers in. So I placed those papers neatly into Carly's tote.
Finding those papers, along with this very precious memory,
put a stop to my cleaning yesterday.

I'm trying to figure out a way to preserve this card.
I have a couple of Carly's pictures/art work that I will be having framed
in the very near future. And I want to do something with this Mother's Day card,
but I have no idea just how to go about saving it/preserving it.
I'd appreciate any ideas!

This may not be what you had in mind, but take a picture of all the wonderful artwork, etc, that Carly made and then turn all the pictures into a coffee table book. So you can flip thru the book, without having to dig thru the tote. I love Shutterfly.com for my picture books... :)

I used to work in a framing shop in college. There are so many things that can be done. You could either cut the card in half (which you might not want to do) or make a copy of the poem inside so that both sides can be displayed, and then have a mat cut to showcase both sides of this beautiful card. It brought tears to my eyes... I can only imagine the tears that came to yours! If you are having a hard time though you can bring it to any local frame shop or Michaels and they can give you a ton of great ideas.

I was going to suggest the same thing Gracesmommy said. Also you could have it laminated, to keep it from getting dirty or ripped.

What a beautiful card and what a beautiful handprint! Love, Hugs and Prayers!!!

I do the same thing Kristen mentioned with Brooke's artwork. I scan them and include the artwork with the rest of my pictures in a shutterfly book I do every 3-4months.

Really great idea form everyone Joany.I was definitely going to suggest the laminating and a double sided glass frame.

I am certain you will figure out the perfect thing for this beautiful keepsake.I can only imagine how fast your organizing came to a screeching halt after finding it.

Sending love and prayers.

The card is so beautiful, I would suggest laminating, that way you can keep it close by and it wont get spoilt or the paper wont get worn out and torn.

Thinking of you as you find your way through each day.
